Both Tom and Mel have configured their Model 3s! Alas, Robert is still awaiting his email. This week Tom and Robert bring you all of the tesla news, including some exciting Boring Company plans. News about VW, the US Postal service, and London Black Cabs. Also Tesla Semi receives another large order of 50 electric trucks from Sysco and some investors in exchange traded funds are taking another look at the long term future of energy companies focused on fossil fuels.

Tom and Robert bring the Tesla news to Tesla nation this week. Lots of focus on batteries, with switching on of South Australia's new Tesla lithium battery, the Hornsdale Power Reserve. In other exciting news, the reported total orders of the Tesla Semi trucks including WalMart, Loblaws, Ryder & J.B Hunt is up to around 200! The guys cover the ePrix, Elon's Roadster in space, the supercharger update, and the wonderful letters from our listeners.

This week the Model 3 Owners Manual was leaked in full, and Tesla opened up Model 3 orders for regular reservation holders to configure! Exciting times. This week Robert and Tom focus on the Tesla Third Quarter 2017 Earnings Call. In this 2017 third quarter, Tesla delivered the 250,000th Tesla, and they experienced an order of magnitude increase in five years. Elon said they were experiencing a “mad growth rate”. This being said, there was also discussion about the Battery issue, and the Model 3 delays. The guys deep dive, and unpack the earnings call.

This weeks episode focuses on the Model 3 production schedule. It seems that Tesla has missed production by 85%, according to the goals for delivered vehicles by September. The guys discuss what this means, and why this happened. Level 5 autonomy is also a hot topic this week, after Director of autonomous vehicle integration for General Motors, Scott Miller questioned whether Tesla's hardware is capable of Level 5!

It has been quite a week in Tesla land, with Tesla turning on more range for cars in Florida, to help out during the storm. Plenty of climate change discussion after Former FEMA chief advocates rebuilding infrastructure in a way that mitigates storm damage in the future. China announced they will set a deadline to stop fossil fuels, and Chinese EV supercar maker is prepping an all-electric SUV! So much talk this week in Talking Tesla Nation about the confirmed existence of Hardware 2.5! As you can imagine, the guys have some thoughts. Also discussions about how Tesla sold $1.8 billion of eight-year unsecured bonds at a yield of 5.30 percent. Lots of other news, including more Model 3 details, Bollinger's B1 electric utility truck, the new Leaf, and Mel drools over a story about the Model Y. A huge week in Talking Tesla Nation! The Model 3! SN1 arrived on Saturday, Tesla board member Ira Ehrenpreis was in line to receive the first car, but passed its rights to Elon Musk as a 46th birthday present. Other big EV news is that Volvo announced that all Volvos will have some electric motor, hybrid or full EV from 2019. In Battery news, TESLA energy is about to install the world's biggest battery backup in the world, by a factor of 3 (130 MWH) in 100 days...or forfeit about 50 million! Lots of other renewable energy, autonomous driving, and EV discussions this week.

The Model 3 has arrived and Mel is back in town! Its a big week for EV's with Elon's very exciting tweets on Sunday about the Model 3 production schedule, also Tesla introduces new performance enhancements to the Model S and X, Porsche plans 50% of its production to be electric within 6 years, and a Model 3 was spotted in New Zealand!
